About Dr. McIntosh
Dr. McIntosh has tutored for more than 25 years and specializes in STEM subject matter from junior high through graduate studies. She has extensive tutoring experience with high school students with learning differences, particularly ASD, ADHD, dyslexia and others. Her students included high schoolers going on to elite universities (Harvard, Trinity College Dublin, Stanford, etc) and students who wanted to complete high school on a good note. Undergrads and post-bacc students (often upgrading marks for med school admissions) at Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Arizona State University, UMass-Amherst, Penn State, UCLA, USC, Tufts, Boston University and many others have sought her help with genetics, biochem, molecular and cell biology, and chemistry.
Dr. McIntosh grew up in the Calgary area loving science and horses. She has decades of tutoring experience and academic coaching. She finished her Ph.D. in Microbiology at Texas A&M University after completing her B.Sc. in Biology at the University of Lethbridge. Her post-doc involved teaching undergraduates at universities across the US and UK to find, annotate, and digitize peer-reviewed scientific literature on proteins. The project was referred to as CACAO (Community-Assessment of Community Annotations with Ontologies) and remains one of Dr. McIntosh’s favorites. She spent almost 3 years working at MIT and tutored extensively in the Boston area before returning to her home roots.
